Elon Musk’s Reaction to Athena Strand’s Killer

Tanner Horner was a former FedEx driver. On April 7 2026 he pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping in the death of 7 year old Athena Strand.

The case then moved to sentencing and jurors now have to choose between life in prison or the death penalty.

After disturbing trial details resurfaced online, Musk replied on X with three blunt words: “Execute him immediately.” That short post did not stay small. It spread because it said what many furious parents and grandparents were already feeling, even if others believe justice must stay inside the courtroom and not be driven by public outrage.

The case itself has reopened a painful national question: what should justice look like when the victim is a child and the crime is this horrific?

Court reports say prosecutors showed jurors video and audio evidence from the day Athena was taken. Major outlets have reported that jurors became emotional during the evidence, while Athena’s family has had to sit through details no family should ever hear.

This is not a story where Elon Musk decides the outcome. His post may shape public debate, but the legal decision belongs to the jury.

One of the most famous men in the world reacted to a case that already had millions of people angry, heartbroken, and asking if the system can ever truly answer for a child’s life.

Many remember when children played outside with less fear.  Parents and grandparents. A case like Athena Strand’s feels like the nightmare every family prays will never come to their door.

But no matter where people stand on the death penalty, one truth remains. Athena Strand was 7 years old. Her life was stolen and her family is still living with that loss.
