Tesla shareholders are using the Say platform to ask when they can buy a Cybercab, and the most-voted questions also cover older cars, a Tesla van and Optimus robots. The questions are headed for the third-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, October 21, which starts at 2:30 p.m. Pacific (5:30 p.m. Eastern). Shareholders can submit and vote until 1 p.m. Pacific on Tuesday, October 20.
What shareholders ask about the Cybercab
One question, from an investor who lists more than 444,000 shares, asks when the Cybercab will be available for customers to buy and own. Another, from an investor with more than 515,000 shares, asks how the fleet will grow beyond Austin and what the rules look like outside Texas while a federal safety review is open. Others ask whether Tesla will take full responsibility for a Robotaxi fleet and when private owners can buy one.
Older cars, a van and robots
The highest vote count we saw, 205, is on a question from an investor with more than 261,000 shares. It asks about upgrades for cars with the older HW3 computer and says Tesla has acknowledged that HW3 cannot support unsupervised Full Self-Driving. A request for a full-size passenger and cargo van has 148 votes. Others ask what each Optimus robot would cost, who the first paying customer would be and when the robots would bring in revenue.
What is not known
The system ranks questions by votes, so the order can change before the deadline, and Tesla has not said which ones it will answer. These are shareholder questions, not Tesla statements.
Our take: the list shows what investors are worried about: when the Cybercab reaches buyers, whether older cars get a fix and how soon Optimus makes money. Tesla’s answers, or its silence, will matter more than the votes. Tesla says it has more than 300 Cybercabs in Austin, which we covered in Tesla Says It Has 300+ Cybercabs in Austin, Up 8x in a Month, and the date and time of the call are in Tesla Sets Its Q3 Earnings Report for Wednesday, October 21.
